NYX Girls nail polish haul and swatches

Hello everyone ^_^/

as you might remember a few weeks ago I attended the NYX store opening in my city. As a nail polish collector who respects herself, of course I had to get some nail polish. The store carries the whole range of the NYX Girls nail polish and it was really hard choosing just a few shades.

Stars on silver, my first mani for 2012

Hello everyone ^_^/

This is something I should have posted earlier, as it is the first mani of the year.
One of my resolutions for 2012 is to use up as many of my beauty products as I can. That includes of course nail polishes and nail art supplies. I have a tendency to collect nail art stickers and to never use them because they are so cute. This has to change, so for this year I vowed to use as many as I can.

Putting that into effect here are the nails I did for the New Year. My theme was metal and stars.

Here is what I used.

My base colours were Stargazer silver chrome (which happens to be my first metallic nail polish, I have this bottle for over 10 years) and Models Own Thunder & Lightning. Then I added purple and black star decals and Models Own Purple Haze!

When I first took out all the bottles, I wasn't sure of the end result but my nails ended up looking fabulous and sparkly, so I can say the experiment was a success.

Now let's see how many nail polishes and nail decals will I be able to use up during the year XD

Nails, nails and more nails + a cool deal

Hello everyone ^_^/

Wow, it's been almost two weeks since my last post but I have a good excuse. I am working for something very exciting. I cannot reveal what it is yet but soon, very soon, I will ^_^

In the meantime, here are the nails I've been sporting for these last couple of weeks.

First I wore my favourite colour from the Color Club Molten Metals collection, Lumin-Icent. It's a lovely light blue metallic colour which is perfect for this time of year. Perfect coverage in two coats is definitely a plus ^_^

After a couple of days of crafting non stop there was some minor chipping. But I loved the colour so much that I decided a glitter gradation mani would be the best solution. I used Color Club Sugarplum Fairy and Jingle Jangle from the Beyond the Mistletoe collection and voila! My mani was saved!

Don't you just love gradation nails? It's one of my favourite looks as it's easy to make and always looks glamorous!

Next up I went for my favourite colour, purple! Here is Etude House LUCIDarling in Purple Satin. I had to use three coats for this one to get perfect coverage.

And last but not least, here is the colour I have on right now. China Glaze Marry a Millionaire from the Eye Candy 3D glitter collection. I was so excited when I first heard about these that I just had to get them asap! And I definitely wasn't disappointed! It was really hard choosing which colour to try first but I just had to go with the purple one in the end XD

The photo just doesn't do this beauty justice. This is one of the most interesting glitters I have ever owned. Purple mini bar glitter with a mix of green and silver. Absolutely fantastic!!!

Before I close this post I would like to inform you about a great deal that is on right now at over at Viva La Nails. There is a Black Friday 25% off deal running. Just enter code BLACK during check out to get 25% off your order.

I certainly won't be passing this one up!

the Greek files #9 and a giveaway

Hello everyone ^_^/

Back to scheduled posting, I have another version of the Greek files. In 2011 Seventeen Cosmetics released a professional nail polish line called Supreme with some very pretty colours. Also following the crackle trend they have their own line called Shock.

I wanted to try both these lines so I picked a colour from each. I chose Seventeen Supreme #19 a lovely purple and Seventeen Shock 1004 a metallic shade.

First I applied two coats of #19 over basecoat.

The colour is beautiful and the polish applies perfectly. One coat would have been enough but I applied a second one for extra shine.

After it was dry I added a coat of Shock 1004.

I really liked how this cracked, I think Seventeen did a great job with this line!

As I found this a very interesting combination, I picked up an extra bottle of each colour to do a giveaway for my lovely readers. The giveaway is open internationally and will last until October 31.
I will keep the rules super simple this time. All you have to do is be a public follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post saying you are in. To protect your privacy, please do not leave emails in the comments. I will announce the winner on my blog in early November and then the winner can email me with their details to claim the prize. If the winner does not contact me within 48 hours I will pick someone else. Simple as that.

I hope you like this prize and good luck to those who decide to enter ^_^
