What better way to celebrate 1 year of blogging than...

A glittery neon Hello Kitty manicure!!!

I just got these cute Hello Kitty nail stickers and I wanted to use them for a special occasion so I think my blogavversary was the perfect chance!

Here is what I used for this mani:

NfuOh Base coat
Color Club Ultra-Astral
Color Club Wink.Wink.Twinkle
Color Club Starry Temptress
Seche Vite top coat
Hello Kitty nail stickers

Over the top coat I used two coats of either Ultra-Astral or Wink.Wink.Twinkle.

Then I added a coat of Starry Temptress or a Hello Kitty decal on different fingers.
And this is what I got ^_^

I also made a cute purple starry nail polish ring just because I could XD

And here is a close up of the thumbs!

Did you like this manicure? The nail polish ring? What kind of ring would you make to match this manicure?

p.s. is anyone else having issues with their GFC widget not appearing? This is driving me nuts @____@

I wear my Sunglasses at night...

So I can, so I can... watch you weave then breathe your storylines

Does anyone remember this song from the 80s?
It is one of my favourites so when I found out there is a nail polish with the same name by Catrice, I just had to get my hands on it.

I was so very excited to try it, that I didn't do anything else to it.
And oh boy, was I disappointed!

You see, it's a classic case of nail polish that looks fantastic in the bottle but not so much on the nails.
In the bottle it's a lovely black full of pink and teal glitter.
On the nail, as you can see, it looks plain black, even under the brightest light.

The application and formula were perfect in two coats (plus Seche). I only wish the glitter would show up. Also this colour reminds me of a Japanese nail polish I have which is almost exactly the same. I need to dig it out and do a comparison.

I do apologise for the tipwear. As I was quite disappointed I took these photos 4 days after applying this polish, that's why my nails look like this.

Wanting to give "I wear my Sunglasses at night" one more chance, I decided to try making a nail polish ring.
And yes, it is much better. You can see all the pretty glitter perfectly. This is a nightime photo that I just took but I will update this post with daytime photos asap, so you can see the colour in its full glory.

And I will close this post with my favourite version of the song that shares a name with this polish!

Models Own Smash Up

Hello everyone ^_^/

how are you all doing today? The weather is rainy and cold here and I am enjoying it, even though it makes me feel sleepy. The downside is that it doesn't feel like spring at all. So in order to cheer things up a bit and get in the Spring mood, I ordered a few Models Own polishes a while ago.

They had a fabulous offer on the Smash Up crackle polishes that I couldn't resist, so I got both the black and the silver. I also ordered some lovely pastel colours, perfect for bright Spring manicures. I always love getting nail mail, and after unwrapping everything they looked so pretty in the box!

Apart from Smash Up in Black and Silver, the rest of the colours from left to right are Lilac Dream, Fuzzy Peach, Feeling Blue, Pastel Pink, Top Turquoise and Lemon Meringue.

Here are all the pastel colours on a nail wheel, two coats each.

I couldn't resist adding a coat of Smash Up on each nail!

I love all the combinations but my favourite by far was the silver over pink which is the far right one. Unfortunately it didn't photograph well, but I will be doing a mani with it so you will get a chance to see it better.

Also I want to make a special mention to the excellent customer service. There was a minor problem with my order that was resolved in a very timely manner. I was so pleased that I just have to mention it.

What do you think of all the crackle polishes going around? Have you had enough? I know I haven't!

A swap with a Spring aroma

Hello everyone ^_^/

how are you all enjoying the start of your week?

I am so excited today as I got a package from Australia, from my dear friend 'Chelle.
We do frequent swaps with each other and  I am always so happy to buy polishes to send her but also to get her lovely packages.

Unfortunatelly on my photos you cannot see the yummy snacks she sent me as darling stole them away on the spot! He's so evil! But you can see all the other lovely contents of the package.

A huge collection of Spring nail polishes that just came out in Australia and also a lovely lipbalm and a Revlon lipgloss.

Here are the nail polishes in more detail

A couple of them were sent from 'Chelle's lovely sister ^_^
Thank you so much to both of you ladies, you have made my week

I am now at a loss as to which of these beauties I should try first.
Should I do a combined mani with the mood polishes? A super glitter attack layered mani?
Crackle mix? (although the red crackle is for my mum I'm sure she won't mind me using it once XD)
Ahhhh decisions, decisions...

the Greek files #7

Hello everyone ^_^

this post was supposed to be published yesterday but with the whole blogger meltdown that just wasn't possible.

The mani I will show you today is a follow up from the Greek files #6

I had painted my nails with some of the new Korres nail polishes and wanted to try blinging the mani out a bit.

So I chose Erre Due Graffiti top (which is basically their own version of a crackle polish) and a pink glittery hearts Erre Due nail polish.

I love how Graffiti top turned out. It looked great over both colours as you will see on the next photo too.
But the glitter polish was a whole other story. The hearts just refused to come out and I have to keep trying just to get one out of the bottle. The polish is super cute but what's the point if I cannot use it properly?

Still I managed to get some out in the end, enough to do this mani ^_^

China Glaze Anchor's Away collection

Hello everyone ^_^/

Back in January I was one of the 3 lucky surprise winners of  Canadian Nail Fanatic's 100 followers giveaway.
I was very excited about it! And the prize was 4 polishes of the China Glaze Anchor's Away collection and a pack of nail art rhinestones!

From left to right we have Life Preserver, First Mate, Ahoy! and White Cap.

The first couple I decided to try were Life Preserver and First Mate as I think the two colours go really well together.

I applied two coats of each colour over base coat.
I really like how they look together on my nails.

For an extra oomph to this mani I added a coat of China Glaze Fault Line, a purple crackle from their Crackle Glaze line.

It looked fantastic over Life Preserver but it was a bit dark for First Mate I guess.
Still I liked it.

What do you think of this combination?

A manicure in Vienna

Hello everyone ^_^/

it's raining cats and dogs outside so I am sitting here doing some deco work but I decided to take a small break and show you a quick mani I did while in Vienna. As my nails were dying from the travelling I decided to change my mani for Easter Sunday.

I used the below polishes

American Apparel Dynasty, Essence Where's the party?, Essence It's Purplicious and Essence the better than gel nails top coat. I was very impressed with the top coat as the final result was fabulous indeed. I applied two coats and my nails were super shiny! I definitely recommend it!

And this is the end result!

And here is a bonus shot out in the sun!

And now back to work I go as I have promised jewellery design previews and I don't want to delay them any longer!

Happy May 1st with May's calendar!

Hello everyone ^_^/

How was your day today? Did you welcome May and spring?
I had a fabulous day and now that I am back home I want to share the nail art calendar for May!

For one more month Nail Up! didn't disappoint. All the designs are so fresh and cute!

And here is the nail art tutorial for May
First paint your nails in a white glitter colour.
Then paint the tips with a green colour, creating a french manicure.
Using pink and silver paint the checkered design and then add holo sparkles on the edge finalising the look!

What do you think of this month's look? I loved this tutorial, I want to give it a try although I fear I will fail horribly at it!
